Adult Training & Cub Scout Fun Day

Hi Everybody,
Thank you so much to all of you that came out last night for the training. The turnout was even better than we had hoped for - you are amazing! Lori has wristbands for several familes for the Cub Scout Fun Day tomorrow. If you have not gotten yours from her, please contact her to make arrangements for that. If you still want to go, please let us know ASAP. I will be making another trip to the scout office today to pick up the last of them.

If you weren't able to attend last night, but still want to get trained here is the link. Just make sure to print out the certificate you receive showing you completed it. We will need a copy of that. http://olc.scouting.org/info/ypt.html

Prayers for one of our scouts

One of our new Tiger Cub Scouts was injured in a fall last weekend. He is at Riley in ICU. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. I am not posting his name here for privacy reasons, but if you would like more information, please contact Lori or Pam.

Outdoor Fun This Weekend!http://www.HoosierOutdoorExperience.IN.gov

Huge fun this weekend at Ft. Harrison State Park. It's the Hoosier Outdoor Experience on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th from 9am-6pm. Fishing, canoeing, archery, pellet guns, rock climbing wall, panning for gold and more. There will be some area Boy Scout Packs there and our district's own Kevin Ayers will be teaching the Leave No Trace Class.

PACK MEETING!

So excited - our Pack Meeting is tomorrow night (Thursday Sept. 15th) at Franklin Central Christian Church. 7:00 pm We are going to talk about popcorn and then have a special guest - you might want to bring your camera, I'm sure there will be some "kodak" moments. See you there!

Welcome

It was so wonderful to see many new faces at last week's meeting. Welcome to Pack 607 and a fun filled year of scouting! In October we have the Cub Scout fun day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and a district campout at Johnson County Park. Our next Pack Meeting is Thursday September 15th at 7pm - we may have a really cool guest join us for this one - come check it out. Please call or email Lori or Pam if you have any questions.

The Little Steamers (mini trains) are so much fun. And we love the huge campfire that the firecrafters put on every year. Then, the night is done and we go back and camp with our families and friends. Can't wait to do it again next year!

The Webelos went on their own adventure at day camp. They got to do all the neat stuff too.

The scouts learned some new skills too.

One of the best things about camp is spending time with old friends, making new friends and doing cool stuff with your parents!

The boys all earned their kickball belt loop...

And canoeing and swimming...

2011 Cub Scout Day Camp

We had such a good time at Day Camp. Our district, Pathfinder, puts on their own Day Camp at Johnson County Park and it is awesome! There was BB guns and archery...

SUMMER CAMP 2011

Summer Camp is here. We wondered if it would be cancelled this morning. There was heavy rain, wind, lightning & thunder, even a little bit of hail. But that didn't keep our scouts away! Here's a photo, provided by Gina C., of them at their first day. Have fun guys.

Indianapolis Zoo Scout Overnighter

How cool is it to sleep over at the zoo?! I have always wanted to do this. Thanks Gina for planning and coordinating this and for the yummy snacks. We have great parents. We got to play games, learn about habitats, see behind the scenes at the ocean exhibit (picture of our instructor, Josh, showing us the kitchen) and see some of the animals the next day before the zoo opened to everyone else. Thursday morning, we got to go to the dolphin show and some of the boys sat in the splash zone - they call it that for a reason.

Zoo Pictures Continued

Even though there were tornado warnings and wind and rain, we had a great time at the zoo. We were tucked safely away in the oceans exhibit or the dolphin pavillion (where we slept). This photo of the polar bear expresses how I felt after a night with everyone - in need of a nap - lol.

Zoo Overnight Pics

Here are more pictures of our zoo overnighter.

Pack 607 Helps Keep Indiana Beautiful

Our charter organization, Franklin Central Christian Church, received 30 trees from Keep Indiana Beautiful this year. Keep Indiana Beautiful has a goal of planting 100,000 trees in Indiana in 10 years. Last year they did about 4,000 and in 2011 they are planning 8,000. Pack 607 got to help with this planting at the church.

Scouting For Food

I know that I have said this before, but I have to say it again: I am so proud to be part of a Pack that has a strong commitment to community service and helping others. We participated in scouting for food and were able to collect bags of food for God's Bounty Food Pantry right here in Franklin Township. This is not just a once a year thing, we are accepting donations for the food pantry all year. Here are the boys with some of the food we collected.

Blue & Gold

Traditionally, most packs have a Blue and Gold Ceremony in February - March. This was intended to be a "Birthday Party" for scouting and a time for the boys to get awards and advancements as well as graduate or "cross-over" to the next rank. Here a some photos of ours.

More Pinewood Derby

The race was held at the FT Informer Office. There were medals for 1-3 places in each rank, with trophies for 1-3 overall and best in show.

Pinewood Derby 2011

Pinewood Derby is one of the biggest events in scouting each year. Scouts, along with help from their parents, make cars from blocks of wood and race them. It is awesome!

Veteran's Day

The boys made a big poster/Thank You card for display at South Creek Elementary for our Veterans. Some of our boys also got to help with the flag ceremony at the program at school. Thank you to all the servicemen and women, past and present, for your dedication to our country!

Cub Scout Overnighter 2011

We are fortunate that the Pathfinder District plans exciting things for scouts to do. Here are some of us at the Cub Scout Overnighter in January.

Science Pack Meeting

At Pack and Den meetings we have a good time and learn new things. We had a Dad from Eli Lilly do a mad scientist show for us. The kids got to learn about dry ice, the different forms of matter and even make their own slime.

Pack Activities

We visited the Franklin Township Historical Society and learned about the history of our community.

Circuit of Fun Events

Here are a few of the Circuit of Fun Events. There was motorcross, the Shrine Circus, Brickworld (Legos), and more.

Grandparents Celebration

Some of our schools don't have a Grandparent's Day, so we decided to do one at Cub Scouts. We had refreshments a craft, and the Grandparents helped the boys complete a family heritage booklet. The boys who participated earned their Heritages Belt Loop.
